Why Students or Anyone Need to Keep a Microwave

Your college kids need a microwave for a good reason. Well, let me reiterate that. There is more than just one good reason to buy a microwave. And this is why you are reading this blog.

Microwave ovens work differently than regular ovens.  They use sound waves that heat up the water present in your food to warm it; make it hot; boil it or cook/ bake it. You see the mechanism is fairly simple. And the good thing? It’s a kitchen in a small box!

We can say that a microwave oven is a good cooking appliance for anybody. Not just the college student, but the busy office goer to the business person the fitness trainer, a microwave oven is the best choice when you want to prepare food while working or as quickly as possible. In this article, I can share a few tips according to my insight to give you an idea of the benefits of a microwave oven. Before that, I would like to share how I got it.

How Did I Get a Microwave Oven?

Well, when I moved out; I had an idea that I would need some cookware. As a matter of fact, I never have been interested in cooking. I went to the kitchen to sneak a meal from my parents or from the fridge.

But now, being an independent student, I have become very useful in making sure that I can have microwave cookware. It is because I had hardly the time to clean up and get the pan ready for Broccoli and beans for dinner (I have vegetarian food for supper).  Therefore, I needed something quick and something very effective.

A microwave can bake; can cook and pretty much do anything on a small scale. That is all about it. This is the thing that interested me so much to buy this appliance.

I didn’t earn full-time at that time (obviously). Although Dad agreed to pay for it, I wanted to buy it for myself. They are not that expensive like the big ovens you see. I have been freelancing as a designer in a company then. I used that income to get myself a short term direct deposit loans. The instalments were very easy on me because the lender showed me more than one repayment package. I chose the one I can afford. With that, I bought my Microwave.

And let me tell you, since that day, I have had a very good time with it. I made new recipes all by myself. I wrote in my journal about it. Maybe those recipes have been insignificant, but they have been like the emotional building blocks of my young days and college journeying. I still use the microwave. Yes, here and there, it needed a little maintenance and some tweaking. However, it’s working fine now as it did in my college days.

What Are the Plus Points of Owning a Microwave as a Student or Anyone?

I am writing this article on the students’ viewpoint. However, I can say that the microwave is an appliance for everybody. You need to know how to use it. That’s all. Recipes will come along the way quite naturally.

· Managing Leftover Foods

As a college student, managing leftover food is extremely difficult for students. Let’s say you have got a little curry that you cooked yesterday or beans that you made in the morning. Heating them up in a pan sacrifices the pan and the bowl and your efforts to wash them.

If you microwave it, you can immediately eat it after taking it out from the oven and cooling it down a little. You do not need to prepare bowls or other stuff. I like eating slowly from my microwave bowl. They’re great. Just cool them down and be careful with the hot rims.

· They Can Cook Almost Anything

My favourite banana bread or cake has been the first thing I made in my microwave oven. However, I can bake cakes or cook eggs and French toast for you.

The goodness of this gadget or appliance is that it is not for your regular heating work of foods. You can technically cook basic dishes and bake a lot of goodies for you in the oven. That helps a lot I think.

· You Can Heat Your Food to a Perfect Temperature

How do you like your pasta? Piping hot or warm? Or do you like it when it transits from being warm to cool? Your microwave can give it to you.

However, keep in mind that you must make conscious food choices.  Piping hot food is extremely dangerous for your health. It can, in fact, cause microscopic burns in your mouth and the tissues in your food tube. The same thing goes for drinks too.

So if you are using a microwave, use it in the way to heat your food moderately. If you are cooking, then you will need high heat. But you can always allow the food to cool down before eating it.

· You Can Save Time Because You Don’t Have to Wash Many Dishes

Practically, it is something students are going to hate at the beginning of their student lives. Although it is good work and you get adjusted to it, you can understand it is a time-consuming process.

For finishing off the project or when you have a trip to go to the next day, a microwave can be of good help. You can save time on doing the dishes and this can be done by washing only the microwave bowl. I call that compact!

· You Can Actually Save Money

Many students love takeaway food because of the terrors of preparing them at home. I mean a nice egg sandwich hardly takes 15 minutes to cook.

Takeaway food is not bad. But repeatedly eating them can cause your health problems. A microwave oven prepares food at home without much hassle. In this way, it makes a positive reinforcement on you to make better food choices.

To Conclude

I missed the point that the microwave oven is easy to carry. Please note that I am not convincing you to buy a microwave because I said so. Learn more about it. Find out the food you can make with it. If it suits your needs perfectly, then it is worth buying a microwave.
